DELTA is a three-year Research and Innovation Action project that commenced on 01 May 2018 and will run until 30 April 2021. It is dedicated to making a contribution to the energy industry.
In a nutshell, DELTA aims to optimise how we use energy.
The DELTA framework empowers aggregators, retailers, and customers to better manage their grid flexibility by developing tools for dynamic, automated, secure and reliable Demand Response.
An aggregator is a legal entity that aggregates the load or generation of various demand and/or generation/production units.
Demand Response is a change in the power consumption of an electric utility customer to better match the demand for power with the supply that is exercised following a market offer or incentive. It can be distinguished by explicit DR, which is a committed, dispatchable flexibility that can be traded on energy markets (incentive-driven), or implicit DR, which is the consumer’s reaction to price signals (price-based).
This project is designed end-to-end using open protocols for increasing interoperability. By powering these innovations through Smart Contracts and Blockchain, DELTA will set the future benchmark for cybersecurity and data integrity in Demand Response Applications.
