On Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the CERTH’s premises in Thessaloniki, a launch evening was held with the theme:  “The first Smart Energy House in Greece” . The event was organized by Fibran D. Anastasiadis SA in cooperation with the Institute of Information Technology and Communications of the National Center for Research and Technological Development (ITIP / CERTH).

The evening was a great success and included participation from the technical world of Northern Greece. Engineers from all over the region attended and listened to the speeches that took place within the framework of the Esperides. The inaugural address was addressed given by Dr. Dimitrios Tzovaras, Researcher and Director of ITIL / CERTH, who was the leading mind behind the construction of the Intelligent Energy House. (Dr. Dimitrios Tzovaras is also the coordinator of the Delta Project.)

The Smart Energy House is showcasing innovation at both a national and European level. Already since the spring of 2017, the house has hosted technologies and services from both national and European research projects as well as from domestic companies and industries.

The house is used to demonstrate many advantages and innovations within the systems that have been installed. This includes the complete monitoring and control of consumption of all the smart home appliances as well as the integration of photovoltaic panels and batteries for production and storage energy features, which altogether depict a near-zero consumption building (nZEB.)

Furthermore the Smart Energy House demonstrates structural intelligence through top-of-the-line insulating materials that add, among other things, thermal insulation, sound insulation, fire protection, waterproofing and excellent mechanical strength.

It is planned that in the next years, ITIQ / CERTH’s Intelligent Energy House will become the research subject of many new research projects in the implementation and study of innovative smart and energy-efficient technologies.
