Happy World Creativity and Innovation Day 2021!
The DELTA project relies on the creativity of its project partners to power its innovations. One such innovation is the DETLA Fog Enabled Intelligent Device (FEID).
DELTA’s FEID is a powerful demand response (DR) toolkit that empowers small and medium customers to participate in DR programs in a secure and efficient way.
At the customer’s level, a uniquely identifiable FEID is installed which, coupled with a smart meter, transfers aggregated energy-related data, in real-time, to the DELTA Virtual Node (DVN) that it’s assigned to.
It is responsible for transmitting information stemming from the field devices (home appliances, distributed energy resources, storage components etc.) to the DVNs, and facilitates end-to-end communication of signals from/to the Aggregator and to/from the field devices.
The FEID is equipped with an arsenal of software components that can optimise decentralised DR management. These include:
- Real-time energy monitoring
- Long and short-term energy forecasting
- Energy flexibility estimation
- Realistic emission reduction scenarios
It can be installed in either industrial or residential environments with custom DIN-rail casing. To facilitate both installation and use, two user interfaces (UIs) have been developed:
